PROJECT SMOK
The act
Project Smok are the indie trad trio of Ali Levack, Ewan Baird and Pablo Lafuente, a nonconformist, progressive sound that's set them apart since forming in 2017. They blend traditional Scottish and Irish music with contemporary new age pop, most at home when pushing boundaries and making listeners re-evaluate what they expect.
The set moves between explosive and emotive, drawing on everything from indie pop to time honoured West Coast playing. The tunes are built around the whistle and pipes of Ali Levack, BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2020, with Ewan Baird's fierce bodhrán and Pablo Lafuente's nuanced guitar.
Over 15 million streams in, they remain at the forefront of the scene.
