THE ACT
Formed in 1990, Shooglenifty pioneered "Acid Croft" - traditional Scottish melody fused with contemporary beats and basslines. Three decades on, they've carried Scottish music around the world, as at home in a Highland village hall as on a festival main stage in front of tens of thousands.
Their trail of firsts includes inciting a stage invasion at the Sydney Opera House, becoming the first UK band to play Cuba, and the first Scots to perform in the Borneo Rainforest.
The current six-piece pairs Kaela Rowan's Gaelic and English vocals and percussion with Eilidh Shaw on fiddle and Ciarán Ryan on banjo and mandolin, over a rhythm section of Euan McLaughlin (bass) and founding members James Mackintosh (drums) and Malcolm Crosbie (guitar). Their 10th studio album lands early 2026, marking their 35th year.GenreScottish Trad / Acid Croft
